(26010,
26014, 26024, 26032 and 26042 were transferred from DCHA to DCHB. Owing
to overspend on East Coast engineering, there were to be few east Coast
turns for these engines over the coming months (in November, 26010 did
not leave the old DMU shed at Eastfield for over three weeks). Only some
extensive work around Motherwell saw the locos working at all regularly.)

Notes
26014
was one of the last remaining 26s to carry BR corporate blue livery in
service, and was withdrawn in this livery. It also retained 26/0 leafspring
bogies (as did 26010 and 26032) to the end (and still rides on them in
preservation).
Boiler removed 06/82. OMO fitted 07/86
26014 spent two years
in store (first at Dundee, then at Dunfermline Townhill) before refurbishment.
It also spent some time in 1987 stored awaiting asbestos removal at Vic
Berry's, Leicester.
Liveries
Original green; green plus small yellow warning panel; BR blue; preserved

by 20212; then 26014+20212 Leuchars to Waverley.
Monday 01/09/86
1L37 1603 Glasgow to Arbroath; 2Y02 18.50 Arbroath to Dundee.
Wednesday 03/09/86
6 Kirkcaldy turns.
Thursday 04/09/86
2Y34 2156 Dundee to Perth.
29/09/87
2P38 1717 Carlisle to Whitehaven and 2P29 1833 Whitehaven to Carlisle
dragging a dead 108.
03/10/87
26003, 26010 and 26014 arrive at Toton, to have panelling and radiator
elements removed before forwarding to Leicester. However, after some poking
about, no asbestos seemed to be there...
16/10/87
26003, 26010 and 26014 move en route to Crewe, via Derby.
26/09/88
26014 or 26034
1M03 1313 Glasgow to Carlisle; Glasgow to Kilmarnock, where it failed
and replaced by 47303.
27/09/88
2B52 0706 Perth to Waverley; from Perth to five miles south of Perth,
where it failed. It was pushed to Stirling and a T went forward.
05/09/88
1835 Stranraer to Glasgow; from Ayr to Glasgow.
06/09/88
0823 Glasgow to Stranraer; from Glasgow to Falkland Yard (balancing movement).
Monday
07/08/89
1A57 0925 Queen Street to Aberdeen; Queen Street to Cowlairs; and 1L51
2025 Queen Street to Dundee; Queen Street to Cowlairs. And that was it
for 1989's passenger work!
Friday
25/05/90
1712 2Y74 Dundee to Montrose; 1808 2Y46 Montrose to Perth. Unfortunately,
as 26014 was in a state, the outward turn was caped at Arbroath, where
014 ran round and worked the return to Perth.
Monday 04/06/90
1712 2Y74 Dundee to Montrose; 1808 2Y46 Montrose to Perth.
Monday 02/07/90
1355 1H13 Queen Street to Inverness; from Queen Street to Perth. After
some riots at Queen Street, the train left 25 late, with, believe it or
not, 26038 banking! 26014 was some 50 down by Perth, so, although allocated
throughout, it came off at Perth (as per usual with single Type Twos!)
The train was combined with the 1440 ex Waverley and the Joe went forward.
Saturday
13/07/91
26014+26042
Perth to Inverness on the 'Orcadian' InterCity landcruise (St Pancras
to Kyle). 47808 ran out of coolant south of Berwick; 47562 rescued it
and went forward to Waverley, where 808 was removed and 562 continued.
However, the driver at Perth failed it for low power, and 26014 and 26042
go forward with load 13 (including Mk3 schlafs) to Inverness. At Inverness,
they almost came back on a 1415 additional to Waverley, but there
was a spare driver who took them back light. This was 26014's final passenger
working.
From
January 1992
DCHB
machines 26014 and 26042 were 'transferred' temporarily to the A pool
to cover for two xos absentees hired to trainload coal (see 1992 gen for
full details). 26014, 26024, 26032, 26036, 26037 and 26042 were used on
a variety of DCHA trips.
26014 had been due
repairs at Glasgow Works to its engine, but these were cancelled. 014
had been towed to Perth from Eastfield on 22/09/92.
